A Tidbit Lucky

The time has come! The nail post which should have been here on last Friday night.... Tah Dah!
I think these fingernails are lucky.  I had a horse show on Sunday, and I believe that these little tappers really gave me the boost I needed to take home a first and third place.  Maybe they'll have the same effect for you??

Materials:  Two contrasting shade of blue polish, a silver or gold, a dotting tool, tape, and an old tupperware lid.
I used Love and Beauty's "light blue" and "teal/navy".  Also, I used Wet n Wild's "Silvivor".  Polish your nails with the light blue.  I picked blue to do this design because blue ribbons are given out for first place at horse shows.

If I remember correctly, this brand took three coats to get the depth of color I was looking for.  For this next step you need to wait until the polish is completely dry. I know it's awfully tempting to just get on with the next step, but you really have to be patient and wait until they dry on their own.  If you don't, the tape will pull off the polish under it too.  Don't PAM them or use quick dry either.  The tape won't stick.
Place small pieces of tape on your nails, leaving bits uncovered.  You need to be careful, and be sure that there's still spaces of the light blue left uncovered.
Next, use the darker blue to polish over the tape.  Make sure that the blank spaces on your nails are covered with the polish.
It'll look like a mess, but don't worry about that.  All you have to do is peel the tape off....
And voila!  Your nails have really sharp angles and points that you would never have been able to get with those blunt edged polish brushes.
Next, put a drop of the silver polish onto the tupperware lid.  Use your dotting tool to make little dots of silver on top of the dar blue.  Think like those lights on carnival rides.
Tah Dah!  The final, very lucky product.  This design is fairly simple, but takes a little patience.  I hope you enjoyed!  Comments make my day!
